Post subject: Guild Recruitment Contest - It's On!
PostPosted: Tue May 25, 2010 7:03 am
Hey, Darkness Raiders! Want to help your guild grow and have a chance to win some great prizes? Read on.

Darkness Raiders will be running a guild recruitment contest. Our goal is to recruit quality recruits for our Icecrown Citadel raiding teams. So how do you participate?

Easy.

Starting today and ending Thursday, June 24th, the member who recruits the most new members wins. Points are available every step of the way through the recruiting process for:
a) the recruit applying to the guild through the Darkness Raiders website, (being sure to put your name in the Referral box);
b) their application is approved by guild leadership;
and c) for successful raid attendance or raid standby.

Here's a word from our GM on the topic.

You said something about prizes…

Indeed. We have some excellent prizes, not only for the winner, but for the first and second runners-up as well.

FIRST PRIZE
The Celestial Steed Mount and one free month of WoW.
Fun for your entire account with this quite distinctive mount.

SECOND PRIZE
Choice of:
Gryphon Hatchling
or
Wind Rider Cub

THIRD PRIZE
Choice of:
Lil' K.T.,
Pandaren Monk,
the infamous Lil' XT

or card game awards such as:

Tuskarr Kite,
Sandbox Tiger,
Path of Cenarius

POINT SYSTEM
Application Points:
For each application received, the referring guild member will receive:
5 points for the first application
4 for the second
3 for the third
2 for the fourth
1 for the fifth and every application after that,
for a maximum of 15 points

Membership Points
10 points for each applicant you recruit who has their application approved and joins the guild
There is no maximum on these points.

Attendance
10 points each new member that you recruit who, after having their application approved, sucessfully attends or lists as a standby for a guild-run raid. This will only count for the guild ICC 25 runs. Now, obviously, due to the nature of assembling large raids and the number of raiders we already have, we cannot guarantee that all new members will have a slot in the next raid; however, for the new member showing up on-time and prepared to raid if we need them, the recruiter will still be awarded points. There is no maximum on these points.

A leaderboard will be posted on this forum and updated frequently.

Sounds pretty good, but I have a few questions…

That works well, because we have a FAQ:

FAQ
Q) Hey, I have recruited a couple people in the past? Does that count?
A) Yes and No. Yes, it counts in the sense that you have made a most appreciated contribution to the guild by increasing our numbers. But, no, it does not count for the contest.

Q) You said this is a one month contest. How will people I recruit in the last week have a chance to get a raid in?
A) While the contest runs for a month, we will wait two weeks prior to announcing the winners. This will help to give people an additional chance to get a run in.

Q) I recruited <so and so>, but they didn't get counted. What's up?
A) Credit for recruiting will be based on the name in the referral field on guild applications. So please emphasize to potential recruits that it is important they put your name in there.

Q) I won <one of the prizes>, but I already have that.
A) Don't worry. Another prize may be substituted. We want everyone to be happy with the contest.

Q) Who will make the best recruits? I want to make sure I get the most eligible recruits so that I can make sure their applications get approved. What classes/gear levels/dps or hps levels/achievements are you looking for?
A) Great question. While we always a looking for skilled players, the best recruits are going to be focused, mature players who are interested in raiding.

Q) What if something comes up that you didn't anticipate in this well written FAQ?
A) The GM will be the final word on any grey areas or disputes.

If people are interested in knowing which classes/roles are high priority in terms of recruitment, here it is:

High Demand
Holy Paladin
Prot Paladin
DK tank
DPS Shamans (Elemental preferred)
Holy Priest
Shadow Priest
Balance Druid
Feral Druid (kitty)

Medium Demand
Fire Mage (main spec Fire - not an Arcane mage willing to be Fire)
Demonology Warlock (as above - not a Destruction/Affliction lock willing to play an offspec)

When recruiting healers it is preferrable to recruit ones with a decent dps offspec (not necessary, but always good to have).

It might be possible to award extra points to people who recruit these particular classes/roles ...

The leaderboard should be up in about a day or so, we just needed to take into account the first round of applicants/acceptants and if they raided or not, sorry for the delay but we'll have it soon, so no worries :)
